The satisfaction of sharing God's grace
'...Jesus did not let him, but said, "Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." - Mark 5:19
A few weeks ago, I received a friend request and a message to my Facebook account. When I went to check who it was there were doubts in my mind whether or not it was the person who I though it was. I kindly sent a message asking if they could identify themselves. This person immediately answered...and very well it was the person who I thought it was.
In 2012 I was sent to serve the church in Getafe, Spain. There I met a young man named Cristophe. He was a refugee who had recently arrived from Cameroon to Spain and had been placed in an ONG (non-profit organization) center there in Getafe. He came into the church to visit us for the first time. He spoke French and understood English so I would translate so that he was aware of the message that was being preached. From that day I saw the sincerity and need that he had to come to the Lord. We spent time together. I would go pick him up along with other brothers and take him back to the center after prayers were finished. For two months I tried my best to help him out by visiting and sharing with him the Grace of God. He had no family with him, but I saw him as one of my own.
On the 9th of June 2014, I had agreed to go pick him up for a special event that was going to be held at the church. I went to the ONG center and they told me he was no longer there and that they couldn't disclose anymore information about him. I called him and messaged him, but there was no reply. Since that day I had no communication with him and much less knew where he lived. I tried several times to contact him or find out information about him, but I was unsuccessful.
Today, Cristophe and I began to speak after 3 years. In his message, he thanked me for helping him out in a tough time in his life, and also for encouraging him and for sharing with him the word of God. He went looking for me at the church in Getafe, but he had been told that I was now assigned here in the Philippines. He found a way to contact me through Facebook. He shared with me how God's grace has manifested in his life in an abounding way and that he had decided to get baptized because he has discovered that the Lord had been calling him. As he wrote to me, my heart began to be overflown with happiness and joy, for I was now hearing a testimony of someone that God was favoring greatly.
This makes me realize the words that Jesus Christ said to the man that had the desire to physically go along with Jesus after receiving a miracle in his life. The Lord turns to him and says as I quoted in the beginning of this blog..."Go and tell your own what great things the Lord has done with you". The man wanted to go along with Jesus Christ, but the Lord knew that there was something that was going to bring lots satisfaction to this man...sharing what he had just received. By sharing, this man was not only going to feel satisfaction but he was also going to be truly walking along with Jesus Christ.
Sharing God's grace with the people around you not just gives you a great satisfaction, but it is on of the things in our life that makes us a true follower of Jesus Christ and his teachings. Today, I felt satisfied hearing how great things God has done in the life of another person that was in great need. If God has blessed us in our life, it is time for us to share that blessings with those around us.
As I share this with you, I take advantage of this opportunity and invite you to come near to our house of prayer here in Taytay (Floodway) and experience the great things that the Lord will also do for you and the mercy he will show towards your life. God Bless you.
